[March 15, 2008]

the word "PEACE" in Filipino is KAPAYAPAAN...many people in the Philippines understand this word as symbolized in religion as The Dove of Peace (also known as The Holy Spirit amongst Catholics)...

coming from a poor nation with a significant history of regaining independence and integrity...then in our understanding of this word that PEACE meant that we need to have the liberty from oppression of those who have more wealth and status in the world...

then peace is defending justice...defending the life of all people today and future generations to be born...

hopefully someday that like birds free to fly in the vastness of the sky...as to be free to care for each other...as The Dove of Peace returning to Our Lord Jesus Christ who compassionately taught us to love the needy...and live a life filled with generosity and kindness...

hope this inspiration helps...especially for Humanity who needs peace from the world...

God bless us all..."the little one" ;-)

I think peace can only be achieved if one is at peace with oneself. When you're happy with yourself, you're nicer to others and that is what peace really is. Peace is loving yourself and others in the world. Peace is happiness.

Since I'm a Malaysian, I speak Malay and we say peace in Malay as 'aman' which means no war and violence. We can make peace with shaking hands, smiling to each other, greet people nicely and do everything in good way.

From: Shera Bawlah

Hi ! (and all of my fellow peace people)!!!

My feelings towards the word "peace" is precious to me! I feel it is the highest quality of all people living together today. I believe it includes (and not in order) happiness, joy, caring, acceptance, and tolerance of everyone around you!

To me, peace is something that no one in life can do without. It is like water, impossible to replace! Something that has been, and will always be, a part of our everyday lives =]

Peace can be defined in many different ways, depending on the person (their lives in whole)....

Peace to me is like fishing bright and early, before sun up....watching the mist leave the top of the water as the sun starts to shine....or sitting by a campfire at night, listening to nothing but the sound of the fire crackling, and the crickets and other insects of the night....

to me, THAT IS ABSOLUTE PEACE!

thanks all for hearing my definition of peace, and how much it really does mean to me! Thanks all the peace people out there! i can't wait to hear what everyone else has to sayyyy! =]

peace!

Peace is Friður in Icelandic.

From: druzli

"There never was a good war or bad peace."

-Benjamin Franklin

Throughout history, countries have had wars. For the most part, in the "beginning", it was to gain freedom, whether it be to secede from an over-powering king or government, to the ability to have freedom of speech, religion, and/or everything else. Of course, people believe that there are some reasons for war, and others think there are many more for peace. Some wars may be "needed" and others may not. But for most, they all seem as if they do not ever need to be.

There are different ways people take peace. Some believe World Peace is necessary, some may want Inner-Peace, and others may want all the peace possible. There are even few who have given up on peace, and don't even know if it's possible now. But those who still believe, those who still hope, strive to give, and gain, peace to and from everyone around them.

Hi Rock2rye, I have a few peace photos on line.Peace begins within myself. To have a strong calm center no matter what is going on around me. I believe that peace ripples out to all.

Here is a quote I found recently that will help remind us how to attain peace.

It is written by John Muir:

"Tug on anything at all and you will find it connected to everything else in the Universe!"

We are all connected at the quantum level. What happens to each of us effects all of us. When we understand this and act from this knowledge peace will be.

Namaste (the divine in me sees the divine in you)

Peace is when people accept each other for themselves. It is really hard to find in the world these days. Peace is treasured and will hopefully come to all of us one day.

GREAT Thread Rock2Rye! And I'm thinking we need to add some multi-lingual stuff to the site...Maybe a page where people can do just what you ask in this thread..."how do you say Peace"...

What do you think?

'Cuz the thing about Peace is that we MUST say it in ALL languages...

This is great! Anyone know how to say Peace in Croation, for Clark? And it looks like I'm not even spelling that correctly...

"MABUHAY"

is a Tagalog / Filipino (*Philippines) verb in the form of a command: "Live!"

It is also a wish:

"May you live!"

Whosoever says it wishes upon you the great gift of a long and full life.

It is both a blessing and a lusty cheer.

"Mabuhay" (ma-boo-high) is such a large word that it lends itself to a wide number of secondary uses:

welcome,

congratulations,

thanks,

godspeed,

hello,

good luck,

cheers,

prosit,

sante,

viva,

kambei,

aloha,

and many other expressions of goodwill.

All these are a part of life; but it is the gift of life that makes them possible.

"Mabuhay", in other words, is an invocation and a celebration of life itself.
